Actemium signs strategic partnership with SeaPattern to manufacture pre-series turbines

Swedish hydropower startup SeaPattern has entered into a strategic collaboration agreement with Actemium, which is the VINCI Energies brand dedicated to industry, to manufacture and deliver its pre-series floating turbines.

Through the partnership, Actemium will manufacture the turbines for SeaPattern’s industrialization phase, which involves deployment of pilot projects to demonstrate the complete solution’s capability to increase electricity production by between 7 to 10 percent without the need for investment in heavy-infrastructure.

SeaPattern’s plug-and-play solution harnesses the kinetic energy of water flows found downstream of existing hydropower plants. The turbines represent a core component of the complete system, and are designed by SeaPattern to work together with proprietary AI-based CFD software, patented Dynamic Grid technology, and grid-integration hardware to produce energy at a levelized cost of energy 4-5 times lower than alternatives.

Actemium’s commitment covers the entire turbine manufacturing chain, from machining production including waterjet cutting, turning, and milling, to welding, electrical cabinet assembly, and testing. Turbine production and assembly will primarily take place at Actemium’s mechanical workshop in Norrköping, with final system integration carried out at the facilities in Linköping, where SeaPattern is currently engaged in demonstrations.

Niklas Boman, CEO of SeaPattern, commented:

Partnering with Actemium, part of VINCI Energies, marks a significant milestone in our journey to scale our hydropower solution. VINCI Energies global expertise in energy infrastructure and their commitment to sustainable solutions makes them an ideal partner as we move into our industrialization phase. This collaboration not only validates our technology but also positions us to deliver meaningful impact on renewable energy production across existing hydropower assets worldwide.

“Together, we’re demonstrating that innovation in renewable energy doesn’t always require building new infrastructure – sometimes the greatest opportunities lie in optimizing what already exists,” added Boman.

Robert Persson, Business Unit Manager at Actemium Industry Norrköping, commented:

As a full-service industrial partner for this phase of SeaPattern’s growth, this collaboration is of great significance to us. Together with SeaPattern, we aim to expand the production of sustainable energy – and we see great potential for this to become a long-term and growing part of our mechanic business.

“This is an important step for our mechanical workshop in Norrköping. The collaboration with SeaPattern allows us to apply our broad expertise in industrial manufacturing to a project that is both technically advanced and contributes to climate goals,” added Persson.
