Actemium at the Heart of the Cerisea Bio-Based Industrial Demonstrator

Led by ResiCare, an entity of the Michelin Engineered Polymers division dedicated to green chemistry solutions, the Cerisea project paves the way for a new generation of bio-based 5-HMF resins

Using beet-derived fructose, the company develops non-toxic resins and adhesives intended for applications such as aviation materials, tires, and the wood manufacturing industry. This innovation is designed to reduce the environmental footprint of many capital goods.

Recognized expertise

In 2022, ResiCare called on Actemium Lyon Process Automation for support in automation and batch processing for its future industrial demonstration plant in Isère. The project represents a €60 million investment, with the foundation stone laid in January 2025.

Competing against several global automation players, Actemium Lyon Process Automation, in partnership with Siemens for control software solutions, was ultimately selected at the end of 2024. The awarded scope covers full management of the process control system and the safety instrumented system, construction of server and controller cabinets, and the design of 14 remote I/O panels.

Tailor-made solutions developped by a strong network

A few months later, in July 2025, Technip selected Actemium Lyon Process Réalisations for the electrical and instrumentation packages. The Lyon-based company is supported by Actemium Grenoble for instrumentation and Actemium Clermont for the power cabinet construction. The project therefore brings together several areas of expertise within the Actemium network, each contributing specific added value.

After one year of engineering studies, installation work led by Actemium is scheduled to begin in early 2026, with commissioning of the industrial demonstrator planned for November of the same year. On this tailor-made project—like all those delivered by Actemium Lyon Process Automation—the main challenge is to design and execute the project in line with production, operational, and safety requirements defined by the various ResiCare teams, on a SEVESO-classified site.
