A New Repair & Maintenance Workshop, Strengthening Actemium’s Long-term Presence in Mauritania

On April 2, Actemium Oil & Gas Mauritania inaugurated its new maintenance workshop located at the heart of the Port Autonome de Nouakchott, Mauritania.

An Integrated Maintenance Facility Safeguarding Asset Performance

Designed and delivered end-to-end by Actemium —from engineering to commissioning — this new facility supports the multi-technical maintenance activities of the offshore Hub and FPSO vessel, in line with the contract awarded to Actemium by bp in 2023 for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) gas project, one of the most significant energy developments in the region.

The Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project is a major offshore gas development located on the maritime border between Mauritania and Senegal. Operated by bp, it is one of the deepest offshore gas projects in Africa and a key contributor to the region’s energy landscape. GTA aims to  bring benefits from its operations to the wider economy in Mauritania and Senegal, and support development of the region’s growing energy industry.

The workshop enables the local maintenance, repair and inspection of industrial equipment, in full compliance with international safety, quality and performance standards. It therefore plays a direct role in protecting asset value and safeguarding investments over the long term.

Advanced maintenance capabilities supporting industrial performance

Covering a total surface area of 2,000 m², including 1,000 m² dedicated to operational zones, the workshop is structured into several specialized areas: mechanical, E&I, fabrication, as well as office and welfare facilities.

Fully operational since early 2026, the workshop delivers a wide range of industrial services, including:

  • Repair and overhaul of critical industrial equipment such as pumps, compressors and valves
  • Inspection, calibration and certification activities to ensure compliance and safety
  • Precision manufacturing through machining, drilling, turning and milling operations

Its strategic location within the Port of Nouakchott ensures close proximity to offshore operations, enhancing responsiveness and continuity of service for the GTA operations with the Hub located 10 km offshore and the FPSO located 40 km offshore.

A Project Delivered through strong collaboration and long-term commitment

This project reflects over five years of development, supported by the VINCI Energies Group’s financial and human resources, close collaboration with strategic partners and the strong commitment of the Maintenance Centre of Excellence teams.

The construction began over a year ago and mobilized over 20,000 working hours with a peak workforce of 50 personnel, involving numerous suppliers and subcontractors. The project was completed with zero accidents— reflecting Actemium’s strong commitment to QHSE standards.

A symbolic inauguration bringing together key stakeholders

The inauguration ceremony gathered more than 100 guests, including ambassadors, representatives of the Mauritanian government, VINCI Energies teams, and key partners such as bp.

The event featured detailed presentations on the workshop’s capabilities and its strategic contribution to the GTA project, followed by a guided tour showcasing its technical expertise and infrastructure.

The workshop we are inaugurating today is not merely an operational facility. It is a symbol – the symbol of a shared ambition: to build locally, train locally, and invest locally

said Philippe Davin, Managing Director of VINCI Energies Oil & Gas

A long-term commitment to Mauritania’s industrial development & skills assurance

With this new facility, Actemium Oil & Gas Mauritania confirms its position as a key player in industrial maintenance and a trusted partner, combining strong local anchorage with the strength of an international network to support its clients’ performance and long-term ambitions.

Beyond operational performance, this workshop is part of a long-term vision, focused on developing local skills through training and knowledge transfer. to support the growth of Mauritanian talent
